NAR or TRA members can launch at the NAR launches: Please bring your NAR or TRA card with you to the launch.
Others (non-NAR/TRA): We ask that you only fly motors up through "E" power. We ask that anyone flying higher impulse motors have insurance through a rocketry organization such as NAR or TRA. You get insurance when you join the NAR or TRA
Only TRA members can launch at the TRA sponsored launches. See SEVRA TRA
Launch Time: Typically 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
This is the Naval Auxiliary Landing Field in Chesapeake, VA. This is our best local field for flying large rockets. Our general plan is to launch the FIRST and THIRD Saturday of each and every month of the year. Don't forget to join the SEVRA email list for the latest information and schedule changes. Click here for directions to NALF Fentress.
The planned FAA WAIVER for Fentress launches is 10,000 ft
Many thanks to Jeff Goldstein for getting permission to fly from this awesome field and for setting up the waivers with the FAA!
There are several concrete runways so expect and plan for rockets to land on hard surfaces!
Special note: When you arrive at Fentress there is an operations building near the gate. There may or may not be a guard on duty, but be sure to sign in so they can keep tabs on who's using the field.
WHAT TO DO AT THE FIELD...
Prep your rockets. Fill out one Flight Card for each flight. We keep flight cards on hand, but you can save time by printing and filling out yours ahead of time. Present the flight card to the LCO/RSO in charge (whoever is pushing the launch button). Load your rocket on the pad and hook up the igniter clips.

Glance over the checklist to make sure you have everything you need.
We fly our rockets in accordance with the NAR and TRA safety codes.
