This is the launch report for March 10, 2001.

We had 12 fliers accomplish 45 flights.  It was quite a day.  A little chilly and a little breeze.  It was really nice.  The farmer had completed tilling the crop field just before we started.  That made for real soft landings, especially if a parachute didn't deploy.  Here's what we had.

Flier Flights Comments
Scott Brown 14 Scott got in a lot of flights today.  After a successful flight of his Estes Gyroc on a B6-4, we talked him into a C6-5.  It sure danced as it went very high.  He made a run with the C motors today.

His most spectacular flight was his Super Big Bertha.  A central E28 with no delay, surrounded by 6, yes six, C6-7 motors.  The E28 boosted the rocket off the pad.  The C6-7 motors were to air start.  Did I say they were to air start?  They didn't.  They were also to provide the ejection charge for the parachute.  They didn't do that either.  It was trash bag recovery.

He put up a red pyramid on an F12-3.  Great flight.

He put up Bubba on a G75-6.  Then Bubba went up on an H128-6.  Great flight for Bubba.

His Europa on an H242 woke everyone up.  The altimeter reports 1,829 feet.
Daniel Buckalow 1 Daniel put up a Bull Pup on a C6-7.  He had a great flight.  It was a nice straight flight.
Drew Connelly 5 Drew and family showed up at the park to just fly some rockets.  Needless to say, there was this group of people flying all kinds of rockets.  We hope Drew enjoyed us.  It is always fun to fly with others.

Drew went through some B4's and B6's in his Fat Boy and Scorpion.  He had some very good flights.  I think he is ready for some C's and some other rockets.  I can hear him asking for a bigger allowance.

We hope you come back Drew, we enjoyed having you fly with us.
Pete and Jordan Covell 11 These guys put on a good show.  Talk about nice looking rockets and some great detail.  They had a great assortment of rockets.  Some were very old.

Pete's Big Bertha with a Space Shuttle glider was great.  The glider was trimmed just right.  It took forever for it to land.  The wadding beat the glider to the ground.

These guys know how to build and detail rockets.

The Venus Probe had a very spectacular flight.

Pete started out with a small rocket called Little Big Ear.  Put a 1/2A-5 motor in it.  Had a great flight.

Flew a couple of A3's and a B4.  Had a two-stager, a C6-0 staging to an A8-3.  Then he put up a half dozen C motors.

Again, if you want to see how nice a rocket can look, you have to see what these guys do.

Pete is really thinking about high power rockets.  I think he should upscale some of his rockets.  With his level of detail, wow.

Michael Deavers 2 Michael came out with a couple of rockets that had been in his garage for a long time.  Wanted to see how they would fly.

The first one was an Aerotech Initiator.  He put a G80-7 in it.  Wow.  What a flight.  It was late in the day.  The breeze was dying down some.  This rocket humped of the pad in a hurry.  Straight up.  And up.  And up some more.  The chute came out and it started drifting.  It hasn't come down yet.  It is stuck in a tree.

Michael's second flight of the day was an Aerotech Cheetah.  This was also on a G80-7.  And we thought the Initiator went high.  This was easily the highest flight of the day.  The shock cord separated on ejection.  The nose cone remained with the parachute.  It never came down.  I think it went to Chesapeake.  The airframe came down quickly.  We lost it in the tree line.  Lots of searching failed to find it.

Well, Michael found out how the rockets would fly.  Just have to work on that recovery.  Get some more and come on back.

Eric and Stephen Fadely 5 These two sent up five rockets.  Four for Eric and one for Stephen.  Went from an A10-3T to C6-7s.  They had some great flights.

The good old Estes Alpha on a B6-4 made a great flight.

Jay and Ethan Kerr 3 Jay put up his Aerotech Mirage on a G80-7.  Great flight.  He really should epoxy those launch lugs on.  I remember when he put them on with duct tape at Battle Park, two years ago!

Ethan's Snitch made a couple of great flights on C6-10s.

Ethan got to launch a lot of rockets today.

Stephen Krall 2 Stephen put up his Super Nuke twice today.  Both times on an F50-9.  It did a little dancing put flew nicely into the breeze.  He had great flights.
Don Wittenauer 2 I managed to get in two flights of my LOC/Precision EZI-65.  The first was on an H180W-S and the second on an H97J-S.  Both flights were good.  The first failed to fully eject the parachute.  There was enough drag and a freshly tilled field, no damage.

There was some spectacular two stage flights.  Very good job by those fliers.  Yes, you can stage a flying saucer.  But think twice about three-staging it.

It was a really great day.  We had a lot of spectators.  Our web site is being noticed and we are starting to draw a crowd.  Join our e-mail group under the organization tab.  That way you will get reminders of upcoming flights.
