This is the launch report for
March 2, 2002.

It wasn't the best of days.  But we flew anyway.  It was a little windy.  We had to set up a little ways from the parking lot to increase the recovery zone.  I think a lot of people were scared away by the weather reports.  Even if you can't fly because of bad weather, we can still talk to each other.

We started flying at noon.  We wrapped up at 3:30.  There was water coming down from the sky.

We had 18 fliers.  They put up 34 flights.  Not bad considering the weather.

Flier Flights Comments
Alex Balke 2 Alex put up "Heads-Up!" on an A motor.  His "Fat Boy" was part of a 3-way drag race.  It flew on a C6-3
Scott Brown 2 Scott put up his "Skywinder" on a C6-3.  This was a drag race.  These rockets flew great on C motors.

Once again Scott brought out his flying saucer.  The name of this rocket is "Lampshade."  It flew on an I-285 redline motor.  This motor puts out a really red flame.  The only problem was that the parachute (rear ejection) fell out as the rocket was going up.  The red chute dangling in the red flame was interesting.  Scott is getting real close to getting this flight perfected.

Pete and Jordan Covell 4

The "Manta" came out again.  Jordan put it up on an A8-3.  "Razor" flew on a B6-4.  Time for bigger motors Jordan.

Pete put up his "Mini Mars Lander"  on an A10-3.

Pete took part in a 3-way drag race with his "Fat Boy" on a C6-3.  All three rockets weather cocked.  Good flights for "Fat Boys" in the wind.

Eric Fadely 1 Eric's "Lil Nuke" went up on a G33.  Great flight.
Dane, Dakota, and Trisha Hauck 3 Trisha put up her "Gnome" on a 1/2A3-2T.  It left the pad real quick.  Had a great flight and recovery.

Dakota's "X-Ray" flew on a 1/2A3-2.  This was a fast flight.

Dane put up "Flash" on an A8-3.  Today was a really good day for small rockets, small motors, and streamers.

Matthew Hermann 1 Matthew's rocket flew his first rocket today.  He is 6 years old.  Had a really great flight.  We hope to see him at launches in the future.
Jeff Koffel 4 Jeff was in a drag race with his "Skywinder."  He had a C6-3 in it.  Good drag race.

His "Dart" went up on an F36-6.  The "Crayon" on a G64-7.

I don't have his flight card, but, his "Red, White, and Blue" took to the skies on an I300.  It went 855 feet.  This was the last flight of the day.

John Martin 1 John  flew his "John Deere" on a cluster of five, Estes E9-6s.  This motor came out last year.  It is a great motor by itself.  But in a cluster of five, it is really great.  All five motors ignited.  Lots of flame.  Great flight.  With the wind it weather cocked.  Lots of swept back fin area.  The shock cord separated.  Fins all over the place.

John has been real successful with his 5-motor clusters.  He is talking about 29mm motors.  Could there be a larger "John Deere" in the future.  Let's hope so.

Wayne Miller 2 Wayne put up his "Der V-3" on a D12-5.  Had a great flight.

His "Big Brute" took to the skies on a G64.

Tracy Phelps 1 Tracy flew his "Archer" on a G80.  This is a great North Coast Rocketry model.  If you ever have the chance to buy one, do it.

Remember, don't build it with the stock motor tube.  You will be very unhappy.

Tracy had a great flight on this motor.  This is a great motor for a large rocket.  You can do a lot with it.  Tracy had a really great flight.

Jessica and Josh Tschirhart 5

Jessica has repeatedly flown her "Farside" and never had any problems.  This is a three-stage Estes rocket.  She flew it with a B6 to a B6 to an A8-3.  Great flight.

Her "Razor X" went up on a B6-4.  The beautifully colored "Blorange" flew on a D12.

Josh flew his "Gemini-Titan II" on a B6-4.  He had a great flight with his 2-stage "Scorpion."  It flew on a B6 to an A8-3.

Evan and Mike Verbeek 6 Evan's "AIM120" took to the skies on a C6-3.  His "Recon" also flew on a C6.

Mike put up "Goliath" on a C6-3 as well as his "Fat Boy."

Mike also took part in the 3-way drag race of "Fat Boys" on a C6-3.

Mike's "Honest John" took off on an E30-4.

Don Wittenauer 2 Don finally flew a couple of rockets.  His "Remember the Alamo" took off on an H-180 to 475 feet.  A low flight but it was a windy day.  It probable went 1500 feet sideways after the chute opened.

Don's "Silver Comet" decided to give an Estes E9-4 a test run.  Great flight.  It really went.  Even with the parachute fully reefed, it went over the trees and into the river.

You have to be a member of NAR to join SEVRA.  You cannot fly high power (H motors and above) unless you join NAR.
